Terrorism hit country during NDA rule: Pranab
Guwahati: Rejecting BJP's allegations that UPA government was soft on terror, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday hit back at the saffron party saying terrorism affected India during the previous BJP-led NDA regime when ultras attacked the Parliament.
"However, terrorism is a global issue and has to be tackled globally," Mukherjee said, while addressing an election meeting at Lal Ganesh area here, barely 2 km from the site of a major blast in October last.
He also ridiculed BJP's claim that the NDA government was serious on the illegal infiltration issue in the North-East.
"No effective step were taken to check infiltration by NDA government," Mukherjee said.
Earlier the Union minister had to cancel his election rallies at Silchar and Karimganj in Barak valley after his helicopter could not land there due to bad weather.
